We are continuously looking for ways to protect our paradise. On Global Recycling Day, we hosted our first global Plastic Fishing Tournament, a series of events held around the world to remove plastic debris from the ocean and raise awareness about marine plastic pollution. This initiative demonstrates the importance of coming together as a community and trying to minimise our negative impact on the planet we love.
TO THIS DAY:
6 COUNTRIES
244 FISHERPEOPLE INVOLVED
9324 KG OF PLASTIC RECYCLED

sherpeople gather at historic
kick-off of Corona’s partnership
with NGO, Blue Ribbon, to
collect and recycle plastic from
the ocean.
Two local sherpeople were
among many that participated
in the rst Corona Plastic
Fishing Tournament in China
that collected plastics from the
sea that will be recycled and
transformed into material for
merchandising such as bags
and t-shirts.
BRAZIL
Corona’s first Plastic Fishing
Tournament in Brazil removed
approximately 500kg of plastic
debris from the ocean to be
recycled at a local center to be
reused in diverse ways,
including pet bottles and
furniture.
More than 55 community
members came together to gather
plastics from the sea in the first
Corona Plastic Fishing
Tournament in the country
MÉXICO
In Mexico, more than 30 fisherpeople
gathered for the Corona Plastic
Fishing Tournament to fish four tons
of plastic from local waters that will
be transformed into tools for
fisherpeople and benches for
public spaces.
ISRAEL
The Corona Plastic Fishing
Tournament, took place in one of
Israel's most important historical
landmarks, the ancient port city
of Acre.
Needing some of the plastic waste
collected from the sea for our Corona
Better World Plastic Mannequin
Exhibition (i.e. the Canadian concept)
in September.
COLOMBIA
With participation of Cartagena´s
authorities and the Community Council
of the zone, the plastic was taken to a
collection center in the Punta Arena zone
where it will be classified, so it can be
recycled and become part of the
production chain again in different
industries.
Corona invested in a plastic compacting
machine of a 5 tons capacity so that the
community
has a greater installed capacity for the
future.
SOUTHAFRICA
This stop of the Global Plastic Fishing
Tournament engaged 100 members of the
fishing community for a full day of shing
activity that resulted in 300kgs of plastic that
we removed from our oceans. That collected
plastic will be donated to Ramtsilo, a 100%
black female owned company, that provides
an incredibly sustainable solution to the
global plastic pollution pandemic by turning
plastic waste into bricks that can be used in
construction. In recognition of the importance
of supporting business in the recycling value
chain Corona made a commitment to support
Ramtsilo and help them expand operations at
the end of 2021, commitment that continues
to this day.
